Taverna dello Spuntino a gestione familiare

LA TAVERNA DELLO SPUNTINO

Our Story

In the 1960s, the Fortini family opened La Taverna dello Spuntino, which has been cherished by the family for over four generations.

To complete the hospitality offering, we opened La Locanda dello Spuntino, including ten rooms with a meticulous selection of fine materials: antique terracotta tiles, fine woods, an old fireplace, travertine bathrooms with marble inlays and mosaics, natural fabrics in soft shades, giving the rooms a subtle elegance, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere.

Each room is named after the ancient grape varieties native to Castelli Romani, an area with a long tradition of winegrowing dating back to ancient Rome: Tor de Passeri, La Suite, Usignola, Trebbianella, Garofolella, Fragoletta, Ciliegiola, Principessa, Bombinella, Malvasia and Pizzutello — memories of the past to keep local traditions alive.

Each room is equipped with the very latest technology: Interactive TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and minibar.
The family is always on hand to ensure a pleasant and peaceful stay.
A very warm welcome.

The Restaurant

Local Traditions

'La Taverna dello Spuntino' restaurant is located in Grottaferrata in Castelli Romani, a few miles from Rome. Famous as far back as imperial times, these stately homes were favoured by popes and aristocrats for the healthy climate and natural beauty.

Such as the 'Ville Tuscolane', renowned for the architectural splendour of Vignola and Maderno, and the stunning artworks of esteemed artists such as Domenichino and Vanvitelli. In the 19th century, Castelli Romani were the chosen destination of great foreign writers and poets.

In addition to its proximity to Rome, the surrounding area offers a variety of leisure opportunities: the lakes of Nemi and Castel Gandolfo, the plains of Vivaro for horse-riding and the Castel Gandolfo Country Club golf course, all within fifteen minutes. The hotel service is completed by the fine food served at the annexed restaurant, the renowned La Taverna dello Spuntino.

The strategic position puts it within easy reach of the Florence-Naples motorway network, Rome-Fiumicino and Rome-Ciampino International Airports.

Tradition and dedication

In what was once the wine cellar of grandfather Basilio, a wine producer in the 1960s, his son Alcide and wife Mirka made the decision to venture into the restaurant business.
Since then, the Fortini family has continued with love and devotion the tradition of hospitality, now proudly in its fourth generation
